In Loving Memory: Our Origin
The Mithika Foundation was born from a profound personal journey and a divine inspiration. Our beloved father, Stephen Mithika Mwenda M'thiringa, affectionately known as "Mwaaka" (The Builder), was a pillar of strength, accountability, and love. In his later years, we witnessed his brave struggle with short-term memory loss—a challenge that deeply affected our family but also revealed his unwavering spirit.
His enduring legacy is not one of struggle, but of love. We fondly remember the sound of his voice, calling us "Taata," "Maami," and "Nthanka Ekwa" (my precious ones). It is this love that inspired a powerful dream, a vision that felt like more than a coincidence; it felt like a calling. That dream became our mission: to build a foundation of support, hope, and action in his name. The Mithika Foundation is our promise to turn personal loss into collective hope, ensuring no one walks the path of cognitive challenge alone.
Our Story
The idea for the Mithika Foundation came to us in a dream, a divine inspiration that sparked a vision to make a difference in the lives of those affected by memory loss and cognitive challenges.
We believe that this dream was more than just a coincidence; it was a calling to create a foundation that would honor our father's legacy and bring hope to those in need.
Our Mission
The Mithika Foundation aims to improve cognitive health outcomes, raise awareness about memory loss, and provide support to individuals and families impacted by similar conditions. We strive to create a society where brain health is prioritized, and everyone has access to resources and care.
Our Vision
A world where cognitive health is valued, and everyone can thrive with optimal brain function. We envision a future where individuals and families affected by memory loss and cognitive challenges can live with dignity, hope, and support.

Our Story: More Than a Dream
Our story begins with a dream, but it continues with determined action. That initial spark of inspiration was the catalyst for a movement. We asked ourselves: if our family felt the weight and confusion of navigating memory loss, how many other families were feeling the same, but without a support system?
We realized that "Mwaaka’s" name was our guide. Just as he was a builder in life, we would become builders in his memory—constructing bridges of understanding, laying foundations of knowledge, and creating a shelter of community for those feeling isolated by conditions like Alzheimer's, dementia, and other cognitive impairments. We are building a network of compassion, piece by piece, story by story, because we believe that brain health is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life.
